Come participate in a Blanket Exercise at The Deanery Project 9am – Saturday, Oct 19th

The Blanket Exercise is an interactive and experiential teaching tool that explores the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in the land we now know as Canada.

During the workshop, participants step on blankets representing the land, and take on roles as First Nations, Inuit, Métis and settler peoples. They are guided by trained facilitators, including Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, who work from a script that covers pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization, resistance and much more.

This powerful and transformative exercise aims to deepen our understanding of Mi’kmaq and settler history and current events.

The Deanery has hosted the Blanket Exercise twice before and is honoured to have the opportunity to do so again.
