The Little (free) Community Pantry
In response to the COVID-19 emergency to help make sure food is available for all during this challenging time, the Deanery has converted the tiny shed at the bottom of our driveway into a space where donations of non-perishable, dry, tinned or packaged food can be dropped off, or picked up, for free, at any time.
Surplus donations will regularly be shared with the Food Bank to help with their needs. All donations, and all users welcome!! Openin
Volunteer Pantry Helpers will use guidelines for best practices for operating the Pantry safely, see “How the Little Pantry Works” below.
Thousands of community pantries like this have been set up around the world, each one is a little different – all demonstrate ways in which we can connect and share community resources.
The Deanery is also able to help organize pick-ups or deliveries. Please don’t hesitate to call or email should you have needs or questions. AND please be in touch if you are able to help with drives or errands for others.
Suggestions for improving the Pantry are welcome! Phone messages will be checked twice daily.
If you are interested in helping with the Little Community Pantry, or talking about other ways we can support each other during COVID-19, please call: 902-845-1888 or email: thedeaneryproject@gmail.com
How the “Little Community Pantry” Works
Pantry Access
• ONLY ONE PERSON AT A TIME, PLEASE! If someone is at the pantry when you arrive, please wait by the driveway til they have left the building.
• Please wash your hands before visiting the Pantry.
• There is a bottle of sanitizer by the entrance to spray the door pull before opening.
• Volunteers will check on donations, and clean the space daily.
Donations
• Please leave all donations in the bins outside the Little Pantry so we can sanitize them before setting them out on the Pantry shelves for pick up.
• Contributions of non-perishable dry, tinned, packaged food as well as sanitizer, and DVDs are all appreciated! Thank you so much for your support.
• If possible, please wipe down donations with a sanitizer before dropping off.
Pick-ups
• Please keep the space tidy, take only what you need.
Shelves will be restocked as donations are made available and processed.
• We recommend that items are sanitized/wiped down once you bring them home.
• If you have special needs, please contact the Deanery, or leave a note in the book with suggestions.
• Please bring your own bags to take home goods.
