SeaLight SkyLight Festival
SeaLight SkyLight is a magical event at the Deanery Project August 9th-10th. The family-friendly festival celebrates the Perseid meteor shower and bioluminescence in the pristine waters of Ship Harbour through through hands-on science-based activities with the Halifax Planetarium team, combined with visual arts and musical performances.
This year, artists include Alan Syliboy and Lukas Pearse; while Meghaan LeBlanc, Cassie Josie and the Cry if I Want Tos and many others bring their tunes to the Solar Kiln Stage.
The festival does not just happen after dark! The Saturday schedule starts at 2:00 p.m. and offers music, presentations and activities for the whole family. The Wambolts rescue farm will have animals for some petting time. SuperNova will be bringing kid-centred science based activities, and the Astronomical Society will facilitate interactive solar system games. The Saturday performance stage provides an upbeat blend of Calypso, Funk & African rhythms.
Both evenings include candle light processions to the waterfront for a special theatrical performance.
