Pit Firing Pottery Workshop- June 1 & June 22
Part 1:
Sunday, June 1, 12 – 4:00
St. Andrews Community Recreation Centre
(6955 Bayer’s Road, Halifax)
Instructors: Basia Lukwinski, Kayla Stride
Create hand-built , wheel, and mold pieces in Raku clay.
Terra sigillata will be available for special finishes.
Completed pieces will be bisque fired and transported to the Deanery Project for Part 2.
Please bring a bagged lunch.
Part 2
: Sunday, June 15, 10:00 – 5:00

The Deanery Project

Instructors: Basia Lukwinski, Kayla Stride, Kim Thompson
Participants will decorate, glaze and fire their pots; and learn pit firing systems. They will also test bisque firing techniques
in an on-site Rocket Stove and a cob oven.
Kim will give a hands-on introduction to natural (raw) clay finish plasters and clay paints.
Lunch will be provided for Part 2, potluck contributions are appreciated.
