It’s almost time for our Bicycle Carnival!
You’re invited to a day of bicycle fun and a chance to check out the Deanery Project in festival mode! As part of HRM Bike Week, we’re hosting our third annual Bicycle Carnival on June 13 from 1 pm until 7 pm. With bike activities, music, unicyclists, clowns, jugglers, and much more, we’re offering something that will appeal to all ages.
HRM’s Try a Ride Unit will be there with their fleet of bicycles, so don’t worry if you don’t have a bike, you can borrow one from them! Bike rodeo games and a bike art station will be on-going through the day – drop by and decorate your bike to suit your fancy. A bike mechanic will be on hand to help with minor repairs and when you’re done you can make a human-power generated smoothie with our bike generator. Learn how to ride a unicycle or try out a penny farthing and afterwards enjoy lunch of delicious local food.
We’ll have performers through the day, including:
- Mike Hirshbach, AKA Circus Mike
- Fiddler Colin Cameron
- Accordionist Sylvie Dumont
- Guitarist Greg Hughes
- Charlie Wilson & Jude Pelley, AKA Pennybrook
- El Encuentro
Admission by donation.

Note: If you saw this post before June 4, you may remember reading something about HRM’s mobile skate ramps being on site for the Carnival. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we don’t have a large paved area, the ramps can’t be set up here. On the bright side, it means we’ll have more room for people to test out the Try a Ride bikes!
