2nd Annual Sealight, Skylight

Location: The Deanery Project. 37 Deanery Rd, Lwr Ship Hbr

Sealight, Skylight is a family friendly event that celebrates the sparkling phosphorescent algae in the summer sea, and the Perseid meteor shower.

Sealight Skylight Celebration

Sunday August 10 | 7:30pm – midnight
Join Paul Heath, President of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada – Halifax (RASC) for an introduction to the night sky.
Special guest artist Sally Morgan will perform a new score titled “i am where i am Part 2: Ship Harbour”. (9pm)
Luminocity Hoopers will present an after-dark hula hooping performance.
Come experience the glowing phosphorescent algae in the Deanery cove and watch as the ripples sparkle when your hand touches the water.
$10 suggested donation

Skylight Yoga

Monday, August 11 | 8pm – 9:30pm
Please BYO mat and weather appropriate attire.
If too cold or wet, class will be indoors.
Refreshments following.
$10 Registration Fee

Perseid Meteor Shower

Tuesday, August 12 | 7:30pm – midnight
A full evening including lantern-making, stargazing, and an audience interactive performance facilitated by Sally Morgan at dusk.
Stir up the phosphorescent algae at our dock and watch it sparkle like fairy-dust.
Paul Heath (RASC) returns to share tales of the mythology around the constellations. There will also be a demonstration and performance by Luminocity Hoopers.
$10 suggested donation

Several telescopes and binoculars will be on site for general use, but feel free to bring your own if you have them.
Blankets for sitting on the ground and warm clothing recommended.

Performer Bio

Sally Morgan is a performing artist, educator and scholar who works on interdisciplinary projects merging Environmental Studies, Environmental Education Dance and Somatics. A PhD student, Sally is currently working as an intern at The Deanery Project in Ship Harbour.
