Heartwood is a non-profit, registered charity that delivers direct youth programming, provides capacity-building services to those working with youth, and supports positive changes in the systems that affect youth. They have provided their services within Nova Scotia since 1988; they also have affiliations and partnerships nationally and have delivered programs across the country.

HeartWood has developed a Nova Scotia researched Framework for Community Youth Development, also re-named the Circle of Awesomeness by young peopleThese workshops are for non-profit organizations wanting to increase their understanding of engaging youth (ages 15-30), as volunteers. The workshops will use participatory processes to introduce you to HeartWood’s Circle of Awesomeness and the Youth Engagement Spectrum. Both these tools are useful when considering volunteer opportunities for youth. You will have a chance to personalize the tools to your own contexts of engaging youth in your organizations.

These sessions are also great opportunities to meet with others doing similar work in your area.

The workshops are offered free of charge to non-profit organizations. Space is limited and registration is required; participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
