Venue & Facilities

The Deanery Project offers both its own programming and is available for program and venue rentals.

Gather, Celebrate or Stay

Our facilities support year-round workshops and programs illustrating environmentally responsible ways of building and living. Sustainability is at the heart of all we do at the Deanery Project, whether we’re powering our buildings with solar energy, baking pizza in our outdoor clay oven, drying wood in our solar kiln, or harvesting food from the forest, we’re always looking for new ways to practice, teach, and engage our communities with environmentally sound practices. Story sharing around the fire pit, exploring the trails and beach, or hanging out around the wood or rocket stoves are all places we link learning with nature.

With a variety of spaces and facilities available, our program and event offerings are broad. Examples of uses of the space include:

  • Organization or business retreats & team-building
  • Program rentals (workshops, education, certifications)
  • Festivals
  • Community events
  • Markets
  • School group visits
  • Yoga teacher training
  • Weddings
  • & Much more!

A key goal for the organization is that all buildings on site model low impact, energy efficient construction. Natural building and permaculture design principles inform the site plan resulting in interesting inter-related patterns and functions among the buildings.

We love to see our space used in new and creative ways, and are always open to ideas, opportunities and proposals for programs, events, and partnerships! Let’s dream together! Come for a half-day, full day, multiple days, or even weeks!

The Main Hall

Nestled between the ocean and the forest, the rustic Main Hall is our central gathering place. A fully equipped commercial kitchen and large meeting space make it a perfect location for conferences, workshops, retreats and indoor events for up to 80. It also supports a library, sound studio and “the bunkies”. There is much to discover in the Hall, the cozy, energy efficient fireplace in the “living room” keeps you warm in the colder months, while the solarium is beautiful to soak up the sun in Spring and Fall.

Commercial Kitchen

Solar Wood Kiln

The Kiln is an excellent example of how we can dry wood using the sun instead of fossil fuels. Beautiful live edge boards are are stacked high in here. The kiln also dries food and medicinal plants, and the deck doubles as our outdoor stage for performances.
