An Environmental and Arts Learning Centre

We welcome you to experience the magic of the Eastern Shore, and be inspired by artists, designers, builders, doers & dreamers of all ages, passionate about the environment, who have left a unique mark on the Deanery Project through their knowledge, skills and creativity.

Informed by permaculture design principles, natural building, and the arts, the Deanery offers programs and projects related to energy, climate, forests, health, active transportation and rural living, community building and traditional skills.

It is an ever-evolving discovery, demonstration, and research site that welcomes folks of all ages, stages and cultures to experience our serene rural setting nestled between the ocean and the forest to learn, share, discover and imagine.

The Deanery has become a dynamic education and demonstration site for environmental sustainability, skills development, the arts, and community building.  Our staff is available to work with groups to develop experiential, place-based learning activities on our site, or in their communities. We support a wide range of ways for groups and individuals to engage with our space, and our team, from workshops, meetings and retreats, to special events and artist residencies.
